Going to the EEOB for the big event, I loved running into old colleagues and friends from my days in Ohio. And I was endlessly amused to not take a picture while all the Uncles were taking photos of the winners with their phones. What digital divide?

The full session and panel on Diaspora from the Horn of Africa is here. It’s long, but fascinating. It might be smart to jump to the parts with a panel moderator.

Last month I had the privilege of speaking at the WAM! (Women, Action and Media) conference in Boston, MA and met the uber fabulous Fatemeh Fakhraie, the savvy editor behind Muslimah Media Watch.

She’s followed up afterward and produced this great interview of me about being a Muslim journalist and my other media work! Thank you Fatemeh!

I feel the need to share that we hung out for awhile before I found out that she was THE Fatemeh, writer of one of my favorite blogs. And that upon hearing that fact– totally geeked out. The blog does great work critiquing the representation of Muslim women in the media, go get your RSS on and check it out. Keep up the fantastic work lady! Holla!

And welcome to Being Brina Dot Com!
